(р. 1919) Сигер, ПитИсполнитель народных песен, собиратель песенного фольклора, а также поэт и композитор-песенник. В молодости участвовал в фольклорных экспедициях Дж. и А. Ломаксов [ Lomax, John Avery; Lomax, Alan] (1938-40), собирая баллады, блюзы, народные песни и спиричуэлс [ spiritual], песни рабочих и фермеров, танцевальные мелодии. Аккомпанировал себе на пятиструнном банджо. В 1940 создал вместе с В. Гатри [ Guthrie, Woody (Woodrow Wilson)] группу "Алманак сингерс" [Almanac Singers], исполнял антифашистские песни, выступал в войсках во время второй мировой войны. В 1948 создал группу "Уиверс" [ Weavers, The]. В период маккартизма [ McCarthy Era] попал в "черный список" за свои социалистические убеждения, но уже к концу 50-х стал часто выступать по радио и на телевидении, записал более 50 альбомов. Выступал с концертами, на фестивалях народной музыки, принимал участие в экологическом движении, движении за гражданские права [ civil rights movement]. Среди его песен: "Куда пропали все цветы" ["Where Have All the Flowers Gone"], "О, дали б мне молот" ["If I Had a Hammer"] и др.
